MDL publishes the Medieval Latin texts of SISMEL · Edizioni del Galluzzo online in open access, in a new form that lets readers do more than simply consult them: the text and the information the edition carries about it become a constellation of linked, browsable data. The texts are encoded in XML-TEI. Every item of metadata attached to a text links directly back to Mirabile. Filterable full-text search is available across the collection.
MDL was founded in collaboration with the repository operum Latinorum Corpus Corporum at the University of Zurich, and can therefore also display results drawn from the texts held in that database.
MDL was made possible in part by two annual post-doctoral fellowships in support of Mirabile, established by the Zeno Karl Schindler Foundation: one for the philological work and one for the digital humanities work, awarded respectively to Dr Olivia Montepaone and Dr Riccardo Santarelli. The work began in October 2018 and continued through 2019–2020 under two further fellowships, again promoted by the Zeno Karl Schindler Foundation and awarded to Dr Luisa Fizzarotti and Dr Laura Vangone. Since January 2022 Dr Serena Carlamaria Crespi has been responsible for the preparation of the texts.
